Squeaky's Story
Life
What a trip! I didn't know one kid could have so much fun. I thought the parties at Plant were fun, but the rest has been phenomenal.
My wife and I had our first date 43 years ago, we married in 1966. I married Josephine Spoto (class of '63). She was a teacher (k-6)until the boys came along. I have three absolutely fantastic boys, a CPA, a Chiropractor, and a professional student. One is married and the other two are looking. They are and have been the greatest joy of my life. They must care about me too, they keep asking if my will is up-to-date.
I was CFO and partner in an engineering firm for 27 years and am CFO for an architectural firm for the last 6 years.
We still live in south Tampa on Beach Drive and love it. I love painting, drawing, woodworking, motorcycle & bike riding, walking, armchair travel, golf, fishing, yard work, collecting old records and annoying my children. Right now I am downloading 3,000 songs from the 40', 50's & 60's onto my IPod.
I am finally going to be a Grandpop in September. Dean & Ashley advised us the other day that I am not to come near their child. They are afraid I will warp the baby's psyche. Strangely enough, that is exactly what I intend to do. Serves Dean right for giving me grief when he was growing up.
I remember the fighting Panthers, climbing the water tower, Laz Lewis, Mr. Wilson, Coach Lorenzo, Mrs. Clark (and a dozen other great teachers), the Dale Mabry Drive-in, Ayres Diner, cruisin' the 'Nade, Chicken N Chips (where I worked for two years), Seely's, Falges, Ballast Point Pier, Senior prom (at the Hillsboro Hotel?), getting drunk with Bob Seal-Bobby Seaone-Tim Waggoner-Mickey Hutson, Madison Junior High, Mrs. M...Expand for more
alcolm, the Platters, Drifters, Elvis, Buddy Holly. We had it better than anyone before or since.
I can't tell you how wonderful life is and has been. I hope it has been spectacular for each and every one of you. I remember all of you and think of Plant every day. So many of you were friends and many still are. You were and are a special part of my life. Thanks.
10 YEAR UPDATE: Three grandsons! I only THOUGHT life was good before. Since Jacob (10), Jonah (6) and Jesse (3) have come along I REALLY know how good life can be. They live a mile from me and I am with them every chance I get. We fish, explore, bowl, work, play and learn together. They are an incredible source of humor, love and wisdom. I still work several days a week, but when I am not working, I am either with them, trying to get with them or recovering from being with them. Having one of them is like paradise, with two of them it is like trying to get North & South Korea to the peace table, and three of them is like living in the middle of a hurricane.
Josephine and I will be married 50 years in a few months. The pope has nominated her for sainthood. If I hear one more person tell me she is a saint, I am going to make her one. Unfortunately, she is an incredible mother, grandmother and wife, so most of the family is hoping I will croak first.
I still get to communicate with many of my friends from school. What a joy that is, to see so many of my friends enjoying life and family. I remember every single person who has visited my profile and thank you for remembering me. My wish is that each of you will continue your life in peace and surrounded by love. I know that I will. Hail to thee, our Alma Mater...
